Programme Outline

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Goods and Services Tax (GST) Part 1 & Part 2

  • - Explain the requirements for GST registration and the administration of GST.
  • - Describe the scope of GST, including out-of-scope transactions such as third-country sales and Transfers of Going Concern (TOGC).
  • - Identify and explain the different types of supplies: standard-rated, zero-rated, and exempt.
  • - Understand the GST implications of imports and exports.

Individual Income Tax

  • - Define the scope of individual income tax for residents and non-residents.
  • - Identify various types of income, liabilities, and personal reliefs.
  • - Compute individual income tax liabilities, incorporating applicable reliefs.
  • - Illustrate tax computations for both resident and non-resident individuals deriving Singapore-sourced income.


Corporate Tax Part 1

  • - Understand the concept of taxable income from business activities.
  • - Recognise the tax treatment of trade, business, and other income sources.
  • - Distinguish between income receipts and capital gains.


Corporate Tax Part 2

  • - Identify allowable and non-allowable deductions under Sections 14 and 15 of the Singapore Income Tax Act (SITA).
  • - Understand special and double deductions, including pre-commencement expenses.
  • - Determine capital allowance claims under Sections 19 and 19A of the SITA.


Unutilised Capital Allowances and Trading Losses

  • - Define unutilised capital allowances.
  • - Explain the conditions for utilising unutilised capital allowances to reduce taxable profits.
  • - Understand group relief provisions.
  • - Demonstrate the set-off process for current and prior years’ trading losses.
